About the role

Motto® is seeking a dynamic and creative Senior Brand Strategist to shape the strategic direction of our client work. In this role, you will set a high bar for thinking, clarity, and leadership across every engagement. This is a hands-on role. You’ll lead the thinking, write the narratives, uncover insights, and facilitate the process directly with clients. You’ll work closely with founders and executive teams, guiding them through complexity and change. You’ll also work closely with a team of internal collaborators, modeling excellence and pushing the work to be sharper and more courageous.

As a Senior Brand Strategist, you’ll be at the center of that momentum. You won’t just craft positioning statements or write decks, you’ll help companies step into their next chapter with confidence and conviction. This is a role for someone who lives and breathes strategy, wants to be hands-on, thrives on the challenge, and wants to make a deep impact on both our clients and our company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead brand strategy engagements end-to-end, from conducting research to developing innovative strategy platforms to delivering client presentations and managing stakeholder alignment.

  • Work directly with cross-functional clients as a trusted advisor at the executive level.

  • Jump into complex business situations in times of big change, and make sense of it all with smart strategy and an eye for great design.

  • Ask the hard questions and surface insights others miss.

  • Connect the dots between cultural insights, customer behavior, and business ambition to craft forward-looking brand platforms. 

  • Dive deep into audience behavior, emerging trends, and competitive landscapes to guide informed decision-making.

  • Apply fluency in emerging technologies (AI, Web3, wearables, etc.) to ensure strategies are both relevant and future-ready. 

  • Translate research, data, and intuition into big, differentiated ideas and sharp narratives.

  • Shape brand positioning, purpose, values, messaging, and architecture.

  • Collaborate with writing, naming, and design leads to bring strategy to life.

  • Influence the creative process by acting as a throughline between brand strategy and execution. 

  • Model and uphold excellence in how strategy is presented, discussed, and experienced by clients and internal teams alike. 

Who you are:

  • You have 10+ years of agency experience, including 5+ years in senior roles with strong experience guiding companies through major milestones like brand transformations and restructures.

  • Strong well-developed POV on what makes strategy meaningful and valuable to a business.

  • Executive-level presence and exceptional communication skills.

  • A natural dot-connector - able to synthesize big ideas and paint a clear vision of where a brand can go. 

  • Experience leading strategic engagements with complex organizations and for tech-forward, future-facing brands - especially in innovation, digital product, AI, and emerging tech spaces. 

  • Fluent in emerging technologies like AI, wearables, crypto, or Web3 with little to no learning curve. 

  • A strategist who sees brand as a thread that runs through all expressions - messaging, design, behavior, and product. 

  • Confident client leadership and an ability to simplify the complex.

  • Exceptional writing, facilitation, and storytelling skills.

  • A head for systems and a heart for people.

Compensation & Availability

This is a full-time, 1099 position beginning with a 3-month contract.

Compensation ranges are expected to fall between $110k-$140k USD.

Availability during core hours (9AM–6PM EST) is important for team collaboration.

*Motto runs on EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System). Bonus if you have EOS® experience.
